Ian and Ryan met in San Diego at UCSD in 2013 when we were both completing their PhD programs--Chemistry for Ian, and Music Composition for Ryan. Their first date was a music concert on campus. After hitting it off, they dated and moved in together along with their first dog, Douglas Fur, the boxer mix. They shared so much joy in cooking together, camping, dog training activites, and craft projects.

 

While continuing to date, Ian moved to Cambridge, MA in 2016 for work while Ryan was finishing his PhD in San Diego. In 2017, the gang got back together again as Ryan and their slobbery roommate, Doug, crossed the country by car from San Diego to Boston.

 

They had great years in Cambridge, but Doug's life came to an end in early 2020, just prior to Covid outbreaking. Filled with sadness, they were ready to adopt the current dogs Alfie and Ziggy, who arrived to them as puppies. Despite the pandemic they continued having great adventures at home and locally with themselves and the dogs.

 

They moved to Dorchester in 2023, and Ian and Ryan decided they were ready for marriage. No surpises there--they had been together for 10 years already. 

 

Ian and Ryan look forward to more memories to come this October 5, 2024 and beyond.
